People’s Mural of Columbus Community Input

The People’s Mural of Columbus is a community-driven mural honoring the words of Columbus poet and essayist, Hanif Abdurraqib, and the artistic talent of Bryan Moss. Learn more about the mural’s genesis HERE.

On August 21, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Cbus Libraries will host the People’s Mural of Columbus Celebration at the last block of Miller Ave. before Main St. (See our Block Party Map). The celebration will include live literary readings using microphones and speakers, children’s author storytimes, free book fair and free popsicles. For the safety of all, it will be a block party with street closure on Miller Ave. just after the alley. We will have volunteers available for activities, first aid (if needed), safety and clean up.

On Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., Cbus Libraries will hold a public meeting at the Columbus Metropolitan Library Martin Luther King Branch to receive feedback about our mural and celebration. If you are unable to attend, please fill out the following survey.

We appreciate your thoughtfulness. The survey will be open until July 29, 2021. While we may not be able to implement all suggestions, we will carefully consider every response. Thank YOU!

The mural will contain the quote, "There is something about setting eyes on the people who hold you up instead of imagining them."
